Perseid Meteor Shower to put on a show Aug 11-13

Every August, just when many people go vacationing in the country where skies are dark, the best-known meteor shower — the Perseid meteor shower — makes its appearance. The best time to watch for meteors will be from the late-night hours of Wednesday, Aug, 11 on through the predawn hours of Aug. 13 – two full nights and early mornings. Patient skywatchers with good conditions could see up to 60 shooting stars an hour or more

Last year the kids and I attended a program at a local (or should I say not so local, it took about 40 minutes to get there) nature preserve and had the opportunity to always look skyward with some most excellent telescopes! I haven't been able to find any local listing for programs, so we may just go and sit on the hill next to the house and look skyward, the shooting stars are easily visible with the naked eye!
