The Christian Waldschmidt House is considered one of the best examples of Pennsylvania Dutch architecture west of the Allegehenies. Since opening, DAR members have researched and collected pieces of early Americana, and the furnishings include many original pieces used by the Waldschmidt family. Criteria for acceptance of items as gifts to the house are: 1) prior to1831; 2) Civil War period relating to Camp Dennison; 3) any artifactbelonging to Christian Waldschmidt or his descendants.

From the trustee: Our admission charges are $5.00/adult and $3.00/student with crafts. Tours are conducted in the Waldschmidt House, Camp Dennison Civil War Museum and the Memorial Barn which houses our tool collection and Conestoga wagon. The tours are in 3 buildings and we can look at the herb garden and spring house while moving between the 2 museums. Most of the activities are indoors. We like to allow about 1 1/2 hours for the tours and about 1/2 hour for crafts. But with a larger group you may need just a little more time. We will probably divide your group in half to tour themuseums; it just helps with the flow of traffic to do that.
